Why an Artist?

So I would say my casual interest in art turned to an obsession when I discovered graffiti as a teenager; seeing that style of art broadened my views of what can be and got me really excited about it. I would obsessively try to emulate what I saw in sketchbooks and on walls through the years.

By trying different art styles, like comics, illustration and sculpture, I landed on painting with acrylics as my preferred medium. I never thought that I could make a career out of it, I just really enjoyed painting and when I eventually put photos of my paintings up online, I was really surprised to see that I was contacted immediately by people who weren’t friends and family wanting to purchase!

Eventually, well in a few days, I sold out  of everything I had and it has continued that way. As to why? There is nothing else I would rather be doing. I’ve just been extremely lucky and fortunate to turn my favourite thing into a career.

Artist Bio

Eric Pause is an artist from Niagara-On-The-Lake who now calls Grey County home.  His figurative paintings have a common theme of depicting multiple moments in time under a veil of shape-heavy abstraction and fractured composition. Eric works full time out of his studio in Owen Sound.  You can find more of his work at pausedesigns.com or on Instagram @ericpauseart.
