We’re strolling around the region meeting the good people of Grey Bruce Simcoe and asking you to tell us about yourself in 100 words or less….with one catch: you can’t mention your job/work/career.

For my wife and I, this area is far away from friends and family, so after we’d been here for a year, even though we love Grey Bruce’s natural beauty and other offerings, we often talked about moving. But then, during the pandemic, my new-ish friend Todd invited me over to sit in 2-meter distanced lawn chairs on his driveway with some other dads. It was a good hang and Social Dadstancing, a WhatsApp thread dedicated to backyard fires and lawn games, was created. Those dads ended up having great families, our wives and kids became fast friends, and we suddenly had a home that felt like a home. That was six years ago. I guess I owe Todd a beer.

I was born and raised in Owen Sound. I left for school, then work, and wound up moving halfway around the world. Upon return, planned to stay a couple months, which has turned into 14 years!
What has kept me? Community, the opportunity to lay roots, the opportunity to get involved, to grow a family and build an excellent foundation for them to grow, learn, laugh and play in a wonderful environment.
Geographically what more could you want? Escape to tranquil beauty in minutes, and to urban adventures in mere hours.
Everyday I feel fortunate to call this area “home”.
