‘A man’s curiosity with the lives of strangers leads him down a mysterious and nightmarish path as he begins to experience the haunting of his own steps.’ That’s how Andrew Johnston would describe his recent short film, Voyeur, and I agree that it’s definitely a commentary on the human fascination with the lives of others and how technology is taking this fascination to a new level.
Andrew Johnston grew up in Owen Sound, but has been calling Toronto home since 2013. He’s been employed as a writer and director of non-fiction television for the past four years, but his passion lies in narrative film and his recent short is a great example of why he should indulge this talent more often. He’s written material for others to direct, but this is his first time in the director’s chair for a narrative piece. Drew Dinsmore, another talented Owen Sound native, did the sound design under his Offbeat Media.
