The following items listed below will be part of the Live Auction happening at Lisa Dren’s Fundraiser on May 4th at Heartwood Hall.
How does proxy bidding work?
Jesse Wilkinson of Rrampt will manage all proxy bidding. Bidders must have a registered bidder number (Jesse to assign first 10 live auction bid numbers) and must secure bid with a credit card, which will not be used unless the bidder is the winner.
Bidder provides Jesse with the top bid (to remain confidential to anyone but Jesse), and he will mark the time and date of the bid.
Before bidding starts, Jesse will circle the top bid, notate the top bidder and get a second signature from a team member beside the name of the top bidder, and he will bid on behalf of the top bidder against any bidders in the room.
If there are no other bidders in the room, Jesse will still bid on behalf of the top bidder based on the opening value of package set by the auctioneer (no more than half the listed value), and he will attempt to retain the package for the top bidder at the lowest possible price.
After the auction closes, the winning amount, if won by a proxy bidder, will be charged to the bidder’s credit card provided at time of bidding, and winner will be notified the same day.

Allen Smutylo Watercolour
NOMAD RIDER* – watercolour by Allen Smutylo.
Value: $1100
Depicts a member Kharankpa tribe of Tibetan Buddhist nomads.
These people are pastoralists moving with their yaks, sheep, and goats in the central Himalaya, in a region called Ladakh. They live in an elevation of around 15,000 feet above sea level (as high an elevation as any people on Earth). These nomads are renowned for their horses and riding ability.
Smutylo lived with these tribes for a month each year from 2002 to 2011. He wrote about the experience in his book, Wild Places, Wild Hearts – Nomads of the Himalaya – Awarded the Best Adventure Travel Book at the Banff Festival. The Globe and Mail described Smutylo’s work as “…a profound and poignant meditation on the connection between landscape and culture.”
