The Owen Sound Field Naturalists club (OSFN) invites you to see and hear Anne Bell for its 10th annual Celebrating Earth Day Keynote Speaker event, sponsored each year by Caframo.
In Celebration of Earth Day, Anne will recount special stories and a few of the lessons she learned while serving as Ontario Nature’s Director of Conservation and Education from 2007 – 2024. Anne will highlight the people and places that provided meaning and motivation for her work. In addition to the surprises, challenges and frustrations, along the way, Anne will also share wondrous moments of joy, as well as reasons for optimism in trying times.

Known for her passion, tenacity and creativity in the service of Ontario’s biodiversity, Dr. Anne Bell’s Conservation of Wild Species and Wild Spaces in Ontario will be felt for generations. Many environmentalists who trained under Anne will continue that legacy.
Revered by her colleagues, Dr. Anne Bell holds a PhD in Environmental Studies from York University and oversaw the conservation policy and numerous campaigns, while enhancing the youth programmes with Nature Guardians, a Youth Council, and an annual Youth Summit of high school students (including many from Grey and Bruce Counties, who were sponsored by OSFN and other local Nature Clubs) to energize, inspire and motivate the environmental leaders of tomorrow. She also mentored many interns who have developed into solid professionals in many nature organizations.
Now retired, she enjoys spending much more time outdoors, birding, travelling, learning Spanish and visiting with family and friends.
The Owen Sound Field Naturalists initiated this special event on Earth Day 2016, and has featured such iconic Champions for Nature as John Riley, Doug Larson, Jarmo Jalava, Beth Gilhespy, Hap Wilson and Lenore Keeshig. In 2025 OSFN is pleased to present its 10th annual Keynote Speaker, Anne Bell, and especially appreciates the steadfast support and sponsorship of Caframo. We hope you will join us at: 2pm Sunday April 27, at Harmony Centre
