Uncover the mysteries of navigating the open waters and discover how technology is revolutionizing the maritime world and marine navigation from Captain Colin MacNeil, an instructor in Georgian College’s Marine Navigation and Marine Engineering advanced diploma programs.
Cpt. MacNeil will be joined by team members at the Centre for Marine Training and Research (CMTR), recognized as Central Canada’s marine centre of excellence. In this talk, you’ll learn about: The critical role that the maritime sector plays in our daily lives, and rapid technical advancements on ships including new fuels and navigation equipment.
How Georgian College supports Great Lakes and ocean-bound shipping and transport in using digital modeling to build modern fleets and develop the skills to operate vessels. The use of simulation at Georgian College’s Marine Emergency Duties Centre in Owen Sound which features live-fire and in-water training to prepare mariners for emergency events on the open water.
