The Peninsula Bruce Trail Club and the Owen Sound Field Naturalists invite you to a special day celebrating the launch of Walking Through Time – Exploring the Geology of the Saugeen (Bruce) Peninsula, the third book in Beth Gilhespy’s acclaimed series.

In this latest volume, Beth takes readers on a fascinating journey through one of Ontario’s most geologically rich and scenic landscapes – from fossil-filled cliffs and quiet wetlands to rugged shorelines shaped by ancient tropical seas and shifting continents. With 13 detailed hikes, maps, and interpretive notes, this is the perfect guide for curious hikers and nature lovers.

Event Highlights:

  • Book Launch & Meet the Author – Chat with Beth from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM and purchase signed copies (cash, cheque, or e-transfer).
  • Guided Geology Hikes – Join Beth for a 2 km interpretive walk along the Lion’s Head shoreline at 11:00 AM and at 1:00 PM.
  • Social Time – Connect with fellow hikers, naturalists, and geology enthusiasts.

Registration Details:

  • The book launch is open to all – no registration required.
  • To join one of the geology hikes, pre-registration is required
  • You do not need to be a BTC member to participate in a hike.
  • Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather
