Juno award-winning Philip Chiu, one of Canada’s most celebrated pianists, joins us to perform Mozart’s dramatic and emotional 20th piano concerto. The ultra popular music from Stravinsky’s ballet the Firebird tells the story of brave prince Ivan’s rescue of princesses and knights from the clutches of the evil sorcerer Kashchei. Hearing Stravinsky’s ballet for the first time, the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff exclaimed: “Great God! What a work of genius this is!” Prepare to be dazzled.
