About the Exhibit
Inspiring Nature, Inspired Techno – Biomimicry and Transport is a unique exhibition that allows visitors to explore up to thirty natural specimens and discover how aspects of nature have been applied to create innovative technological objects.
The word comes from “bios” for life and “mimesis” for imitation. The methodology relies on the observation of shapes, processes, and systems to imitate nature’s genius and offer innovative solutions.
- Do you want to see how a kingfisher’s beak inspired engineers to make trains quieter?
- How did a prickly thistle lead to an invention we use every day?
- How are seashells helping us develop stronger windows for our homes?
The exhibition combines themes of innovation and nature to inspire visitors and create a sense of wonder about the natural world and inspiration for how natural designs can inform future development.
This traveling exhibition comes from the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier (QC).
