BMFA Member Show – ‘In Motion’ Opening Reception

As the BMFA approaches its 50th Anniversary, we invite all current BMFA member artists to submit work for the upcoming 2025 BMFA Member’s Show from January 23rd to March 2nd, 2025. The show’s theme is “In Motion”—a celebration of progress as an ongoing force that is never static, constantly evolving, and in constant motion. This theme invites you to explore the concepts of kinetic energy, human action, tand he flow of time or progress.

Submission Guidelines:

Dates:

  • Exhibition Dates: January 23rd – March 2nd, 2025
  • Submission Deadline: January 18th at 5:00 pm (Late submissions will not be considered)
  • Intake Dates: January 17th, & January 18th (11 am to 4 pm)

Medium: We welcome a wide range of mediums, including but not limited to:

  • Paintings
  • Drawings
  • Sculptures
  • Mixed Media
  • Digital Art
  • Photography

Size Requirements:

  • 2D Work: A maximum of 2 pieces must fit within a 3 ft x 4 ft space.
  • 3D Work: Maximum of 2 pieces. Please forward dimensions to admin@bmfa.on.ca if your piece exceeds 1.5 cubic ft. Pieces over 10 lbs must be accompanied by a jpeg and a request to display, sent to admin@bmfa.on.ca.

Hanging & Installation:

  • Work must be professionally presented and ready to hang or install.
  • All 2D work should be framed and wired with D-hooks for hanging.
  • Appropriate installation hardware should be provided for 3D work.

Entry Fee:

  • There is a non-refundable entry fee of $10 per submission. Payment can be made during in-take.

Submission Process:

  • Indicate the number of pieces you plan to submit.
  • Provide a description of the medium used for each piece.
  • Include a brief artist statement (max. 50 words) explaining how your work relates to the theme “In Motion.” These statements will be displayed in your artwork at the exhibition.

Eligibility:

  • This call is open to all current BMFA member artists. Emerging and established artists are equally encouraged to participate.
  • Exhibited work must remain until March 2, 2025. Pick-up is scheduled for March 3rd and 4th (11 am-4 pm).

Additional Information:

  • Commission: The BMFA retains a 35% commission on all sales made during the exhibition.
  • Delivery & Pick-up: Artists are responsible for the delivery and pick-up of their work. The BMFA does not provide insurance for artwork; artists should ensure their own coverage.
  • Rejection of Work: The BMFA reserves the right to reject work that does not align with the above criteria.

Exhibition Details:

  • Location: Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts, 65 Simcoe Street, Collingwood
  • Opening Reception: January 23rd, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm
