SUMMARY:Noon Hour Series: Lucia Barcari & Sabatino Vacca (violin & piano)
DESCRIPTION:This year will be the 30th anniversary of the annual Noon Hour Series – an inclusive weekly summer celebration of music in our community. For most of the years\, Georgian Shores United Church at 4th Ave and 10th Street East in Owen Sound has opened its doors each Wednesday afternoon in July and August to welcome this inclusive\, multi-generational concert series. \nOriginally organized and developed by Joachim Ostertag with support from his family\, this past two years Kelda Mikalson\, a local singer and music teacher\, has coordinated the series. \nThe organizers of the Noon Hour Series and Georgian Shores United Church believe that music is for sharing. \n“If you have been shy to attend indoor concerts in the past because they seem so formal and full of mysterious rules\, we’ve got you. Come and relax in the cool\, eat your lunch\, move to the music\, cheer when you enjoy a passage\, whatever feels good.” \nChildren are encouraged to attend. Whether you have a penny or a 50 to contribute we’d love to see you there at any or all of the concerts.

SUMMARY:Abadouiné: Un film d'André Forcier
DESCRIPTION:Heartwood Hall will be hosting Marc Andre Forcier and his fantastical film Ababouine\, on Sunday July the 6th.  Following the screening there will be a Q&A with Andre Forcier\, his partner Linda Pinet and with Ray Ellenwood who worked on some of the translation. \n\nThis event is FREE of charge. \n\nSynopsis\nMontreal\, 1957. Michel Paquette\, 12 years old\, skips Sunday mass to go to the Saint-Amour et Fille publishing house\, where he immerses himself in the latest poetry collections published by Archange and his daughter\, Rose.\nCharlotte\, Archange’s granddaughter and Michel’s friend\, eagerly distributes the pamphlet Vive le Québec Laïque\, written by her grandfather\, in class with the support of their anarchist teacher\,  André Rochette. This pamphlet enrages Vicar Cotnoir\, the spiritual director of the students at Saint-Eusèbe de la Mélasse school.\nThe Church retaliates; the Cardinal Madore Zouaves demolishes the publishing house presses\, and Rochette is dismissed. Michel and his friends take revenge against Vicar Cotnoir\, whose actions towards children are questionable.\nWith the help of Le Matou\, a mysterious and fantastical character\, Michel’s grandmother\, Délima Paquette\, brings the neighborhood together around her meatball stew\, infusing a touch of madness where gloom was threatening to take hold.\n\nThis event is free of charge.

SUMMARY:The Arrogant Worms at Meaford Hall
DESCRIPTION:The Arrogant Worms have spent over three decades making fun of a big dumb world. Their songs have been played on the radio\, the internet\, and in outer space (on the space shuttle Endeavour). \nThe Worms began at Queen’s University in 1991 when some members of the student cabaret group\, The Queen’s Players\, started writing songs and sketches for the campus radio station CFRC. Soon the group became The Arrogant Worms (Chris Patterson\, Mike McCormick\, and Trevor Strong) who have since toured ceaselessly across Canada (and select other parts of the world)\, released 13 albums\, and recorded with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Their song\, The Last Saskatchewan Pirate\, has been covered by bands such as Captain Tractor and The Longest Johns\, and their Happy Happy birthday song is a viral sensation with over one hundred million views of the various fan videos on YouTube. More than thirty years after they began\, The Arrogant Worms continue to provide tuneful and silly escapism for everyone who needs it. \nWhat better way to celebrate Canada than with this hilarious\, musical\, fun family show! \nProudly presented by Meaford Hall \nPlease note that the balcony level is ONLY accessible by stairs.

SUMMARY:TD Harbour Nights: Paige Warner
DESCRIPTION:With an evocative voice that captivates her audience\, “soulful Ontario songstress” (Billboard)\, Paige Warner\, creates alt-pop music with soul-inspired vocal licks layered on catchy hooks of poetic lyrics. Though her career started as a busker in her small hometown market\, her resilience has led her to perform on stages such as Massey Hall’s TD Music Hall\, Yonge-Dundas Square\, NXNE\, Owen Sound’s Summerfolk\, and share stages with iconic artists including Ron Sexsmith\, Monowhales\, and Lori Yates. She has consistently grown through each music release\, including fan-favourite singles “Damaged Goods” and “Stockholm Syndrome”. With over a hundred thousand streams and views\, Paige’s music has drawn love from media and listeners alike. \nPaige Warner’s voice is often what draws people in. “Paige is very much a modern pop singer-songwriter…but there’s something unmistakably timeless about her sound.” (Rrampt). While her music is catchy and emotive\, her lyrics often touch poetically on themes of heartbreak\, female resilience\, and love. With her brand new album\, Bitter/Sweet\, Paige Warner plans to continue creating intimate concert experiences\, sharing vulnerability through folk-like storytelling\, and having fun with catchy pop hooks\, all while leaving audiences with a memorable connection and a melody.
