SUMMARY:Kelly McMichael Solo
DESCRIPTION:Kelly McMichael is an alternative artist\, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in St. John’s\, Newfoundland\, originally from Peterborough\, Ontario. McMichael’s debut independent album Waves had a breakthrough in 2021\, garnering a spot on the Polaris Prize shortlist\, three Music NL Awards\, and the ECMA for ‘Best Rock Recording’. \nKelly has performed across North America and Europe\, accompanying The Burning Hell\, Tim Baker and Sarah Harmer. Her DIY feminist synth band ‘Rouge’ had a cult following in Toronto\, which progressed into Kelly’s solo project ‘Renders’\, and expanded her interest in producing. McMichael’s bedroom recording experience provided her with a very thorough vision going into the making of her debut album. Her late bloomer success allowed her to shift focus from side player to solo artist. \nKelly’s sophomore album\, ‘After The Sting Of It’ (2024) is a fearless expansion on the classic sound of her debut. Critically acclaimed for its bold sonic landscape\, McMichael has been toted for her resilient and empathetic vocals that sound “even better live” supported by innovative command of her instruments. You can hear her music on national alternative radio\, including CBC\, The Verge and campus stations and TV shows\, or see her on tour in Eastern Canada\, Ontario and Europe.

SUMMARY:Noon Hour Series: Delaney & Olivier (piano & violin)
DESCRIPTION:This year will be the 30th anniversary of the annual Noon Hour Series – an inclusive weekly summer celebration of music in our community. For most of the years\, Georgian Shores United Church at 4th Ave and 10th Street East in Owen Sound has opened its doors each Wednesday afternoon in July and August to welcome this inclusive\, multi-generational concert series. \nOriginally organized and developed by Joachim Ostertag with support from his family\, this past two years Kelda Mikalson\, a local singer and music teacher\, has coordinated the series. \nThe organizers of the Noon Hour Series and Georgian Shores United Church believe that music is for sharing. \n“If you have been shy to attend indoor concerts in the past because they seem so formal and full of mysterious rules\, we’ve got you. Come and relax in the cool\, eat your lunch\, move to the music\, cheer when you enjoy a passage\, whatever feels good.” \nChildren are encouraged to attend. Whether you have a penny or a 50 to contribute we’d love to see you there at any or all of the concerts.

SUMMARY:The Last Waltz
DESCRIPTION:Lance Anderson’s critically acclaimed performance of ‘The Last Waltz – a Musical Celebration of The BAND – Live’ celebrates the 49th Anniversary of the historic concert in 2025. \nAn all-star Canadian cast of award-winning blues and roots musicians\, under the direction of Juno award winning producer and musical director\, Lance Anderson\, will perform selections from their hit show that recreates the atmosphere of The Band’s final concert\, which was captured in Martin Scorcese’s award-winning concert film\, The Last Waltz! \n2025 will mark the 14th year this cast of The Last Waltz has performed this show live. This 2 hour concert will feature a number of special guests including Chuck Jackson (Downchild Blues Band)\, Matt Weidinger and Quisha Wint (Matchedash Parish). \nOn the American Thanksgiving of 1976 at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom\, The BAND invited many of their friends to join in their farewell concert celebration. In this homage to The Last Waltz\, Anderson’s special guests will perform a few of the songs played and sung by these guest artists at the memorable 1976 concert. \nBacked by a 9 piece band that includes Jerome Levon Avis (godson of Levon Helm) on drums and vocals\, Terry Blersh on guitar\, Wayne DeAdder (Jimmy Bowskill) on bass\, Rob Gusevs (Blood\, Sweat and Tears) on organ and Anderson (Matchedash Parish) on piano and vocals. This is a group of seasoned veterans who love the music. Anderson’s band also features a stellar four-piece horn section including David Dunlop (Boss Brass) on trumpet\, Simon Wallis (Lighthouse) Bari sax\, Gord Meyers (Blood\, Sweat and Tears) on trombone and tuba\, and Scott Marshall on Tenor sax. Truly an all-star band! This will be an up close and intimate experience of the music of the Canadian Music Hall of fame members The BAND. A show not to be missed! \n“… these musicians have brought forth a live music gem that is worthy of any stage I know of and probably more that I don’t\,” P. SUMMARY:Noon Hour Series: Zita Petrak (piano)
