SUMMARY:Big Bad Wolf
DESCRIPTION:Note: The BEST idea is to actually make a reservation for a table/seat (lunch/brunch/pizza at https://www.parkwoodbyheartwood.ca/ \nBig Bad Wolf are a blues-inspired quartet featuring Brian O’Rourke on guitar/vocals\, Steven Morel on drums/vocals\, Jayden Grahlman on bass/vocals\, and Larry White on organ/vocals!  They travel traditional blues roads from Howlin’ Wolf to Taj Mahal; take musical side trips through New Orleans and Chicago; and even make pit stops at some more modern R&B and popular music attractions. Blues and jazz-tinged guitar licks ride on the muscle-car rumble of a well-oiled rhythm section\, while howls and sweet harmonies fill the back seat.\n\nGrab your basket\, tie up your hood and take a trip with Big Bad Wolf!

SUMMARY:Mat Hughes and Kailey Jane Hawkins
DESCRIPTION:When he returned to the east coast after a spell on BC’s Sunshine Coast\, Halifax-based singer-songwriter Mat Hughes started writing and performing homespun songs on his keyboard in an attic-turned studio and makeshift music venue. Almost three years and three EPs later\, he’s since upgraded from DIY house shows to playing sets across the country.  Mat’s intricate yet unpretentious songwriting tunes classical technique to a modern pitch with percussive\, piano-driven melodies that can turn any crowd into an audience of attentive listeners. His sharp\, candid lyricism ranges from the playfully slapstick to the knife-edge of existential pathos in topics like eco-anxiety\, self-estrangement\, and feeling homesick for a place you’ve never been\, or merely passed through. \n\nKailey Jane Hawkins is a local Singer / Songwriter and is known for her deep love of folk and acoustic music. Kailey first discovered her passion for music growing up in the North — as a child singing along to iconic Canadian artists like Fred Penner and Sharon\, Lois & Bram. Now based in Owen Sound\, Ontario\, Kailey began sharing music 9 years ago and performs both covers of popular artists as well as her own originals. She loves the vibrant music community in Grey /Bruce and is a long-time Summerfolk volunteer: emceeing stages\, performing as a “tweener”\, hosting Summerfolk’s former radio show Georgian Bay Roots\, and this year is thrilled to be included as a Summerfolk performer for the festival’s 50th anniversary.

SUMMARY:Noon Hour Series: Rob Tite & Brenda Dimoff (clarinet & piano
DESCRIPTION:This year will be the 30th anniversary of the annual Noon Hour Series – an inclusive weekly summer celebration of music in our community. For most of the years\, Georgian Shores United Church at 4th Ave and 10th Street East in Owen Sound has opened its doors each Wednesday afternoon in July and August to welcome this inclusive\, multi-generational concert series. \nOriginally organized and developed by Joachim Ostertag with support from his family\, this past two years Kelda Mikalson\, a local singer and music teacher\, has coordinated the series. \nThe organizers of the Noon Hour Series and Georgian Shores United Church believe that music is for sharing. \n“If you have been shy to attend indoor concerts in the past because they seem so formal and full of mysterious rules\, we’ve got you. Come and relax in the cool\, eat your lunch\, move to the music\, cheer when you enjoy a passage\, whatever feels good.” \nChildren are encouraged to attend. Whether you have a penny or a 50 to contribute we’d love to see you there at any or all of the concerts.

SUMMARY:TD Harbour Nights: The O'Deadlys
DESCRIPTION:It was the summer of 2007. In the middle of The Netherlands. Arnhem to be precise. That’s where our two protagonists met. That fateful meeting turned into a love story across two continents and eventually lead to the formation of The O’Deadlys\, considered by many to be Ontario’s top Celtic band. \nLed by Ayron Mortley (vocals & guitar) and Lindsey O’Connell (vocals\, accordion\, harmonica & tin whistles)\, the band stretches as far as a 6-piece with fiddle\, sax & flute\, bass\, and drums. \nIn addition to The O’Deadlys\, Lindsey\, and Ayron are often hired as side musicians to record or perform with other musicians including; Kevin Quain & the Mad Bastards\, Wild Strawberries\, The Mahones\, Ben Sures\, Taxi Chain/Urban Highlanders\, The Buccaneers\, Airs & Graces and Walter Moffat. They have been lucky enough to share the stage with both Alan Doyle and Sean McCann (of Great Big Sea) and John McDermott. \nNotable recent gigs include; the Ireland Fund of Canada’s Luncheon\, the St. Patrick’s Parade Society’s Grand Marshal’s Ball\, the Canada Games 2022\, and Toronto’s Celtic Island Music Festival. \nAYRON MORTLEY – VOCALS & GUITAR \nFun Fact: Ayron also teaches guitar\, bass\, mandolin\, tenor & 5-string banjo\, piano\, and drum lessons online. For the few rare nights a week\, he’s not on the stage\, he can be found on the ice where he’s slightly less professional. \nLINDSEY O’CONNELL – VOCALS\, ACCORDION\, HARMONICA\, & TIN WHISTLES \nFun Fact: Aside from playing music professionally\, Lindsey is a real-life Snow White who can make friends with practically any wild animal. WARNING: she should not be disturbed while reading a good book. \nJIM BISH – VOCALS\, TENOR SAXOPHONE & FLUTE \nFun Fact: Jim has played music professionally all over the world; from Montreal to Memphis to Mogadishu. He makes beautiful music out of anything and everything\, including the kitchen sink.

SUMMARY:Kelly McMichael Solo
DESCRIPTION:Kelly McMichael is an alternative artist\, multi-instrumentalist and producer based in St. John’s\, Newfoundland\, originally from Peterborough\, Ontario. McMichael’s debut independent album Waves had a breakthrough in 2021\, garnering a spot on the Polaris Prize shortlist\, three Music NL Awards\, and the ECMA for ‘Best Rock Recording’. \nKelly has performed across North America and Europe\, accompanying The Burning Hell\, Tim Baker and Sarah Harmer. Her DIY feminist synth band ‘Rouge’ had a cult following in Toronto\, which progressed into Kelly’s solo project ‘Renders’\, and expanded her interest in producing. McMichael’s bedroom recording experience provided her with a very thorough vision going into the making of her debut album. Her late bloomer success allowed her to shift focus from side player to solo artist. \nKelly’s sophomore album\, ‘After The Sting Of It’ (2024) is a fearless expansion on the classic sound of her debut. Critically acclaimed for its bold sonic landscape\, McMichael has been toted for her resilient and empathetic vocals that sound “even better live” supported by innovative command of her instruments. You can hear her music on national alternative radio\, including CBC\, The Verge and campus stations and TV shows\, or see her on tour in Eastern Canada\, Ontario and Europe.
