Yes\, he’s been willing to step back into the background as others take the limelight\, but that shouldn’t diminish his contribution\, which ripples throughout practically every style and sound of the modern era. \nWhatever you’re listening to – whether it be acoustic or electronic\, roots or futurist\, underground or pop – if you listen closely\, you’ll hear traces of the sonic signatures of Daniel Lanois. And what’s more he’s still experimenting as eagerly as he ever has. At a point when most musicians with anything resembling his level of success would be resting on their laurels and playing on old successes\, he still has more hunger for the new than people a third his age\, and as a result is creating music as beautiful and new as ever before. \n“The road is calling as the music keeps on guiding me through the labyrinths of song\, messages and inventions”. As music rides the airwaves\, we continue to troubadour our way to the stage for that exchange we love; ‘live performance’. \nThe Lanois Trio all started on the outskirts of Berlin in a small chapel\, 3-part harmony with my mates Jermaine Holmes on drums and vocals\, the mighty Jim Wilson on bass and vocals\, Lanois on guitar and vocals. DESCRIPTION:A Saskatoon native transplanted to the Niagara Region of Ontario\, Roots and Blues singer and musician Suzie Vinnick is a 3X Juno Nominee\, a 2X Canadian Folk Music Award winner\, won a 2024 ECMA with her project A’Court\, Spiegel and Vinnick and is a 12-time winner of the Maple Blues Award for songwriting\, female vocalist\, acoustic act and more. Suzie has a voice you’ve heard a thousand times and one you’ll never forget. It soars\, it growls\, it whispers and it shouts from a deep\, deep well of emotion. The pure joy she exudes when she plays her guitars is so worth the show. \nIn May 2024\, Suzie performed at the Teatro Nazionale in Genova\, Italy\, as a guest of Italian acoustic guitarist and singer Beppe Gambetta and she also performed at the Baltic Blues Festival in Eutin\, Germany. In July 2024 Suzie and her band opened for Burton Cummings at the Kemptville Live Music Festival; she also appeared as a special guest of Blackie & the Rodeo Kings at Ottawa Bluesfest in 2023\, performing alongside Daniel Lanois.  She has also toured nationally with Downchild\, Stuart McLean’s The Vinyl Café\, with ASV (Charlie A’Court\, Lloyd Spiegel and Vinnick)\, the John McDermott Band and she performed for Canadian Peacekeepers in Bosnia and the Persian Gulf. She was also the voice of Tim Horton’s for 5 years. \nHer latest album is entitled “Fall Back Home”.

SUMMARY:Mat Hughes and Kailey Jane Hawkins
DESCRIPTION:When he returned to the east coast after a spell on BC’s Sunshine Coast\, Halifax-based singer-songwriter Mat Hughes started writing and performing homespun songs on his keyboard in an attic-turned studio and makeshift music venue. Almost three years and three EPs later\, he’s since upgraded from DIY house shows to playing sets across the country.  Mat’s intricate yet unpretentious songwriting tunes classical technique to a modern pitch with percussive\, piano-driven melodies that can turn any crowd into an audience of attentive listeners. His sharp\, candid lyricism ranges from the playfully slapstick to the knife-edge of existential pathos in topics like eco-anxiety\, self-estrangement\, and feeling homesick for a place you’ve never been\, or merely passed through. \n\nKailey Jane Hawkins is a local Singer / Songwriter and is known for her deep love of folk and acoustic music. Kailey first discovered her passion for music growing up in the North — as a child singing along to iconic Canadian artists like Fred Penner and Sharon\, Lois & Bram. Now based in Owen Sound\, Ontario\, Kailey began sharing music 9 years ago and performs both covers of popular artists as well as her own originals. She loves the vibrant music community in Grey /Bruce and is a long-time Summerfolk volunteer: emceeing stages\, performing as a “tweener”\, hosting Summerfolk’s former radio show Georgian Bay Roots\, and this year is thrilled to be included as a Summerfolk performer for the festival’s 50th anniversary.

That fateful meeting turned into a love story across two continents and eventually lead to the formation of The O’Deadlys\, considered by many to be Ontario’s top Celtic band. \nLed by Ayron Mortley (vocals & guitar) and Lindsey O’Connell (vocals\, accordion\, harmonica & tin whistles)\, the band stretches as far as a 6-piece with fiddle\, sax & flute\, bass\, and drums. \nIn addition to The O’Deadlys\, Lindsey\, and Ayron are often hired as side musicians to record or perform with other musicians including; Kevin Quain & the Mad Bastards\, Wild Strawberries\, The Mahones\, Ben Sures\, Taxi Chain/Urban Highlanders\, The Buccaneers\, Airs & Graces and Walter Moffat. They have been lucky enough to share the stage with both Alan Doyle and Sean McCann (of Great Big Sea) and John McDermott. \nNotable recent gigs include; the Ireland Fund of Canada’s Luncheon\, the St. Patrick’s Parade Society’s Grand Marshal’s Ball\, the Canada Games 2022\, and Toronto’s Celtic Island Music Festival. \nAYRON MORTLEY – VOCALS & GUITAR \nFun Fact: Ayron also teaches guitar\, bass\, mandolin\, tenor & 5-string banjo\, piano\, and drum lessons online. For the few rare nights a week\, he’s not on the stage\, he can be found on the ice where he’s slightly less professional. \nLINDSEY O’CONNELL – VOCALS\, ACCORDION\, HARMONICA\, & TIN WHISTLES \nFun Fact: Aside from playing music professionally\, Lindsey is a real-life Snow White who can make friends with practically any wild animal. WARNING: she should not be disturbed while reading a good book. \nJIM BISH – VOCALS\, TENOR SAXOPHONE & FLUTE \nFun Fact: Jim has played music professionally all over the world; from Montreal to Memphis to Mogadishu. He makes beautiful music out of anything and everything\, including the kitchen sink.
