SUMMARY:Folkpunk Night
DESCRIPTION:Join Making Woman\, Sydney Riley\, and James Harris\, Thursday May 14th\, 8pm\, at Parkwood restaurant for an evening of heavily charged folk-punk originals that will challenge (or affirm) your expectations of how society can be different from the status quo.  \n\nMaking Woman pushes boundaries. Expect to hear everything from soft\, sweet\, silly\, and jazz inspired songs to raw and authentic acoustic-punk-metal. This self-described-over-hyphenated-solo-punk will deliver a purr-formance on an acoustic guitar with a beautiful kick drum.\n\nHeart\, soul\, and rock & roll: Josie-nominated singer-songwriter Sydney Riley is embracing the darker side of life. Hailing from Wasaga Beach\, Ontario\, Sydney’s thundering vocals have been described as a balance\nbetween Stevie Nicks and Joan Jett.\n\nJames Harris is a folk punk singer/songwriter centred around Owen Sound\, Ontario. Inspired by artists like Woody Guthrie\, Pete Seeger\, Laura Jane Grace\, Tomas Kalnocky: James’ mix of high energy anthems and soulful sounds will draw you in while his lyrical hooks will catch you and make you think.

SUMMARY:Leeroy Stagger
DESCRIPTION:Please join us in welcoming the beloved\, award-winning singer-songwriter\, producer and master storyteller Leeroy Stagger\, as he returns for yet another lilac session – live on the studio stage\, with his trio Ryland Moranz and Tyler Lieb.\n\nWhy a lilac session? Simply put\, my lilacs will be out.🪻And Leeroy & Ryland like lilacs. \nStylistically\, his music moves between folk roots and rocknroll. His music is written through the lens of a spiritual path through addiction and recovery; he cuts a trail through the human condition in only a way that a veteran observational traveller and artist can. \nHe has supported and toured with Steve Earle\, Josh Ritter\, Buffy Sainte Marie\, Frazey Ford\, The Pixies\, Modest Mouse\, Los Lobos\, The Drive-By Truckers\, Jason Isbell\, and more. \nHe is just as at home in a cafe with an audience of 40 (that’s us!!!) as he is on a festival stage with an audience of 10\,000. \nLimited tickets for this up close & intimate live music performance & artist interaction \nLeeroy Stagger and His Trio.

SUMMARY:Camryn Ruthven - Reclaiming the Matriarchs
DESCRIPTION:Camryn Ruthven – Reclaiming the Matriarchs \nTending to ancestral embers\, Camryn Ruthven (she/her) explores the Gàidhlig lineage through song\, with a focus on honouring and reclaiming women’s traditions from the Gàidhealtachd (Scottish Highlands) – from keening grief rituals to work songs and bagpiping trailblazers. She weaves the medicines of earth-centredness and Gàidhlig traditions into her own creative tapestry through songwriting\, vocal improvisation\, Soundwork\, and instrumentation (primarily piano/guitar/bodhrán). Her distinctive vocal style draws its inspirations from the raw\, highly-ornamented\, earthy qualities of traditional waulking songs and the natural world. \nThis evening weaves performances of traditional melodies and original compositions with story-sharing and research\, offering a glimpse into the various facets of women’s lives\, work\, social roles\, and music in the Scottish Highlands.

DESCRIPTION:Juno award-winning Philip Chiu\, one of Canada’s most celebrated pianists\, joins us to perform Mozart’s dramatic and emotional 20th piano concerto. The ultra popular music from Stravinsky’s ballet the Firebird tells the story of brave prince Ivan’s rescue of princesses and knights from the clutches of the evil sorcerer Kashchei. Hearing Stravinsky’s ballet for the first time\, the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff exclaimed: “Great God! What a work of genius this is!” Prepare to be dazzled.

SUMMARY:WILDE Art Show Fundraiser + Luke Wallace Live
DESCRIPTION:The afternoon will bring together local artists\, student creativity\, live music\, climate action\, and community connection — all in support of a more accessible and values-aligned education. \nThe heart of the afternoon is our WILDE Art Show\, featuring work from real exhibiting artists\, along with select student artwork. Proceeds from the art show will support the WILDE Way Bursary\, helping make WILDE’s outdoor-based\, whole-child education more accessible to families. \nWILDE School is a nature-connected\, not-for-profit private school that has a full time K-8 school as well as 1 day programs. Our outdoor education model goes beyond the traditional four walls of the classroom with a living curriculum designed to stimulate curiosity and a passion for learning.  \nThe Art Show fundraiser is a beautiful reflection of what we believe in: environmental stewardship\, creative expression\, community connection\, and making WILDE programs accessible.  \nThe evening will also feature a by-donation concert with internationally touring Canadian folk artist Luke Wallace\, in partnership with the Collingwood Climate Action Team. Donations from the concert will support local climate action work in South Georgian Bay.
