SUMMARY:Discovering my O'Hagan Roots with guest speaker Joe O'Hagan
DESCRIPTION:In this presentation\, Joe will discuss and illustrate the steps\, and occasional missteps\, involved in collecting information pertaining to his O’Hagan ancestors. Joe will show how he put together this extensive information into two books (O’Hagan Genealogy – Part 1 John O’Hagan\, Bridget Ryle & Their Descendants and O’Hagan Genealogy – Part 2 The Life and Times of Dr. Thomas O’Hagan. 477 pages + 633 pages) to preserve it for future generations. \nThis is an in-person event\, hosted by the Bruce County Genealogical Society. \nFree to attend; Register online here or by calling (519)797-2080. \nLocation: Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre (33 Victoria St N\, Southampton\, ON N0H 2L0) \nFor more information\, email the Bruce County Genealogical Society: BCGSwebinars@gmail.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n__\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Joe O’Hagan \nI was born and raised in Walkerton\, Bruce County\, Ontario\, and grew up there during the 1950s and 60s in this small town atmosphere. As a child\, I was surrounded by relatives who told family stories about colorful\, and even famous\, characters from my family and this made me curious to find out more about my family history and genealogy. Books like the Queen’s Bush and the Black Donnellys fuelled my burgeoning interest. My work as a police office and detective for the Toronto Police for 32 years\, starting in 1969\, gave me invaluable tools to collect facts\, distinguish fact from fiction\, and gather supporting evidence. \nOver the years\, I compiled a lot of information relating to my ancestors and more recent family members. One of my ancestors\, Dr. Thomas O’Hagan\, my great-granduncle\, was a well-known author\, poet and world traveler. Like him\, I love to travel and went to Ireland on a number of occasions to find out more about my roots and succeeded in discovering some difficult-to-find information about my ancestors who had left Ireland and travelled to Bruce County. In 2010\, I helped organize a family reunion in in Chepstow which 430 people attended from all over North America and Europe. The following year\, 50 of us O’Hagans and friends\, went to Ireland and explored our family’s original home property. In 2025\, I privately published two books about my ancestors\, O’Hagan Genealogy – Part 1 John O’Hagan\, Bridget Ryle & Their Descendants and O’Hagan Genealogy – Part 2 The Life and Times of Dr. Thomas O’Hagan.

SUMMARY:Biblio Arts: book arts and print fair!
DESCRIPTION:BIBLIOARTS 2026\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBiblioArts is an annual teaching and marketplace event with the aim to support Grey-Bruce artists and fundraise for the Georgian Bay School for the Arts (GB Arts). \n\nBiblioArts is a celebration of the “Book Arts” held the weekend of Victoria Day. \n\nFor 2026\, our third annual BiblioArts will happen from Thursday to Sunday\, May 14-17. \n“The Book Arts” describes a wide range of art forms including bookbinding\, printmaking\, letterpress printing\, box-making\, paper-making\, paper marbling\, broadsides\, card-making\, zines and journals\, and so much more; it’s an exciting field and we’re happy to bring it all together for this event. \n \nThursday and Friday we’ll be featuring special guest artist Jacquie Sullivan who will lead a two-day intensive workshop on Multi-Block Relief Printing focusing on the connection between the Japanese process of Mokuhanga woodcuts and the Western techniques of multi-block linocut printmaking. In 2025 Jacquie received a Canada Council grant to study mokuhanga (Japanese water-based woodblock printmaking) at the Mokuhanga Innovation Laboratory (MI-Lab) in Echizen\, Japan. You won’t want to miss this excellent opportunity to learn from a significant artist in this field \nSaturday features a Book Arts Marketplace from 9:30am-3pm including printmaking and book artists\, specialty vendors of papers\, materials\, and tools for all your book and printmaking needs. The Goods Kitchen Cafe\, located in the entrance to GB Arts\, will also be open from 9am-4pm. \n \nOn Sunday morning\, four featured workshops will run with sessions of Water Marbling\, Silk Screen printing\, and Letterpress Printing. Tickets can be found at gbarts.ca or at the links below.  \n\nOn Sunday afternoon\, the public is welcome to join BIG PRINTS!—We’re renting a steamroller and going BIG! We will be printing large-scale relief prints on 1st Ave\, behind GB Arts\, beside the beautiful boardwalk along the Sydenham River. This is a free outdoor art event running from noon until 3pm.  \nThis is all taking place in the large creative studios of GB Arts\, located on the main street in the heart of downtown Owen Sound.

The methodology relies on the observation of shapes\, processes\, and systems to imitate nature’s genius and offer innovative solutions.   \n\nDo you want to see how a kingfisher’s beak inspired engineers to make trains quieter?  \n\n\nHow did a prickly thistle lead to an invention we use every day?  \n\n\nHow are seashells helping us develop stronger windows for our homes?  \n\nThe exhibition combines themes of innovation and nature to inspire visitors and create a sense of wonder about the natural world and inspiration for how natural designs can inform future development.  \nThis traveling exhibition comes from the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier (QC). \nProudly presented by Ontario Power Generation; Media partner 101.7 the One.  \nThe exhibition is a production of the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier in collaboration with the Musée de la nature et des sciences de Sherbrooke\, the Granby  \nZoo and the Institut de biomimétisme. This project was made possible thanks to the contribution of the Government of Canada.

SUMMARY:Leeroy Stagger
DESCRIPTION:Please join us in welcoming the beloved\, award-winning singer-songwriter\, producer and master storyteller Leeroy Stagger\, as he returns for yet another lilac session – live on the studio stage\, with his trio Ryland Moranz and Tyler Lieb.\n\nWhy a lilac session? Simply put\, my lilacs will be out.🪻And Leeroy & Ryland like lilacs. \nStylistically\, his music moves between folk roots and rocknroll. His music is written through the lens of a spiritual path through addiction and recovery; he cuts a trail through the human condition in only a way that a veteran observational traveller and artist can. \nHe has supported and toured with Steve Earle\, Josh Ritter\, Buffy Sainte Marie\, Frazey Ford\, The Pixies\, Modest Mouse\, Los Lobos\, The Drive-By Truckers\, Jason Isbell\, and more. \nHe is just as at home in a cafe with an audience of 40 (that’s us!!!) as he is on a festival stage with an audience of 10\,000. \nLimited tickets for this up close & intimate live music performance & artist interaction \nLeeroy Stagger and His Trio.
