SUMMARY:Sideroad Farm Seedling Sale
DESCRIPTION:On until June. \nThe Sideroad Farm Organic Seedling Sale is on again in 2025! We grow a wide selection of garden favourites\, specifically selected and tested by the farmers at Sideroad Farm. Our seedlings are organic\, plastic-free (we use compostable pots and painstakingly hand stamp thousands of wooden tags) and loved by many home gardeners in the area. BYOBox (we’ll have some boxes available but tend to run low throughout the sale). \nThe seedling sale starts Thursday May 8th at 10 am and is open during store hours at the Sideroad Farm Store (Thursday 10-6\, Friday 10-6 and Saturday 10-4) until seedlings are sold out. We have many many plants started this year so there is no need to all rush and line up on May 8th. We will NOT be selling plants online this year and we can not reserve plants for you. The seedlings are available only for in-person shopping. If you would like to come during less busy times\, we recommend coming late afternoon/evening. For accessibility purposes there is a small set of steps down to the little plant shop and the ground is somewhat uneven as you walk up and down the rows of plants. We are happy to help you shop for plants…please let us know if you require assistance. \nIn general we recommend that plants that are not cold tolerant (peppers\, eggplants\, tomatoes\, ground cherries\, squashes\, cukes\, melons\, basil and some flowers) are NOT planted until on or after Victoria Day long weekend. Watch the weather forecast and if there is a chance of temperatures below 5C\, hold off planting.

SUMMARY:Glacial Erratic and Graven
DESCRIPTION:Experience a night with soulful Graven\, and the energetic banjo-funkers Glacial Erratic.\n\nGlacial Erratic:  Banjo-funk and Ontario’s electrifying party band. From iconic radio personality and author Jeff Woods (Q107\, Records and Rock Stars): “Glacial Erratic is\, per Oxford\, ‘A rock or boulder that differs from the surrounding rock\,’ and no truer words spoken.  Prog/jazz/twang/funk/funny\, Glacial Erratic bring to mind Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver meets other good-time weirdo vibes that make for a trippy listen on the hifi\, and a good time live in concert. Nicest people too. Book em\, Danno.”  \nWith a stand-up comedian for a lead singer and a tapped-in band of life-long jammers dishing out hypnotic grooves\, Glacial Erratic gets people up and dancing quick and then hits them with clever\, relatable\, hilarious lyrics. \n\nGraven: With 24 albums\, EPs and singles under his belt\, Nepean\, Ontario-born Matty (Graven) is a passionate wordsmith of song who wears his heart on the sleeve of his melodies. Graven’s newest self produced album “Always Everything” came out in July 2024 and has been his most streamed and downloaded to date. It debuted at #15 on the NACC streaming charts. Recorded mostly in his own basement studio and partially at Raven Street studios in Ottawa\, the 8 songs soar softly and sweetly with some heavy layered cinematic soundscapes and overtures\, focusing on the societal pressures of relationships. Graven’s last album Simple Complex (2021) was recorded at Fang Studios in Dartmouth\, Nova Scotia and mixed by Joel Plaskett. Bouncy\, jangly and thick with chunky acoustic strumming and fuzz layers\, SC charted across many college radio stations in Canada and the USA and was #3 on CKCU FM’s top 50 albums of 2022 (and he was also nominated for a FACES Ottawa award for “Country Artist”. ) \nWhether solo\, duo\, trio or with his magical 5 man band (dubbed The New Band)\, Matty’s performances are raw\, entertaining and warm. He has shared stages and opened for acts such as Jim Bryson\, Sloan\, The Killjoys\, Steve Poltz\, Danny Michel\, Sarah Harmer\, Elliott Brood\, Kathryn Calder (New Pornographers)\, Great Lake Swimmers\, Melissa Payne\, Stephen Stanley and Ron Hawkins (Lowest of the Low) and many more. Graven always tries to create a highly accepting and inclusive community and his music has become a safe-haven for anyone and everyone who wants to be their real-self without judgement.

SUMMARY:Ron James: Not Nearly Done Yet
DESCRIPTION:With twenty-five years spent barrelling down endless strips of asphalt from coast to coast\, RON JAMES\, our nation’s number one road warrior and newly minted senior citizen\, is Not Nearly Done Yet! With his trademark poetically charged alliterative rants\, performed with razor sharp timing\, this award-winning comedian and best-selling author takes audiences on a marathon roller coaster ride in the language of laughs\, charting a course through a politically polarized world out of whack. From the micro to macro\, he tackles everything from the dating woes of Baby Boomers\, embattled public health care\, aging parents\, food fads\, exercise addiction\, nostalgia\, information overload\, tropical vacations gone awry\, New Age divas\, homelessness crisis\, climate change\, corporate monopolies and gambling ads in hockey\, to the rise of AI’s robot revolution. The comedian the Globe and Mail called\, ‘a man of a million words and a million laughs’\, contemplates what really matters most in a culture beset by runaway consumption… and it is us. The preservation of humanity’s humanity. ‘Everything else is just a spoiler on a Dodge Neon’. \n“Utterly Brilliant” – Ottawa Sun; “a unique brand of funny all his own” – Winnipeg Free Press; “fits of helpless laughter” – Halifax Chronicle Herald; “hysterically funny … at the top of his game” – Toronto Star; “gut-busting\, knee-slapping funny” – Ottawa Citizen\, “funniest man in Canada” – Victoria Times-Colonist; “a wheezing\, snorting\, chortling\, gasping night of hilarity” – Edmonton Sun; “fast\, funny and smart” – Montreal Gazette; “simply the best” -Toronto Sun; “thunderous standing ovation” – Saskatoon Star Phoenix.

SUMMARY:John Wort Hannam
DESCRIPTION:Please note that the balcony level is ONLY accessible by stairs. \nSunday\, April 27\, at 2:00 pm $35 \nJohn Wort Hannam has been on his folk and roots-fueled troubadour journey for two decades\, spinning song writing gold from the chaff of the lives he has encountered and those within his fertile imagination. Twenty-two years in\, he shows no sign of slowing down. In fact\, he’s gaining both momentum and a wider audience\, winning two 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Solo Artist of the Year and Contemporary Album of the Year. Add to this a Juno Award nomination\, a Kerrville New Folk Win\, a previous Canadian Folk Music Award\, and it’s easy to see why audiences and critics alike hear something special in his narrative and lyrically driven songs. Effortlessly mixing rich and clear timbered vocals with lyrics that tug at the heart\, his sound is both unique and familiar. \nBorn on the island of Jersey in the UK\, he immigrated to Canada at the age of nine. He discovered the guitar and his knack for writing songs in his early thirties while working as a teacher on the Kainai Nation in Blackfoot country. In 2001\, John quit his teaching job and made himself a promise – he would try his hand at writing songs for 10 months or until his employment insurance ran out. When time was up\, he had a handful of songs. They became his first recording\, released in 2002. Twenty-two years later\, John is recognized as one of the best folk roots songwriters in Alberta and has released 8 full length recordings. \nOpening for John is the incredibly talented Drew McIvor. \nWith his trusty six-string\, this charismatic crooner performs with a masterful simplicity inviting audiences not only to listen\, but truly share the musical experience. His deep affection for his craft is apparent at every turn; you can feel his heart is in the music\, and it is contagious. Well known in the area\, Drew is versatile\, mult-talented and will be a perfect complimentary act in what promises to be a phenomenal evening! \nhttps://www.drewmcivor.com/ \nProudly presented by Meaford Hall.
