Astrid Young Bio ;

Through the years, Astrid Young has explored a multitude of instruments in a range of styles, from classical to heavy rock, with a healthy dose of blues and country in between. Her discography dates back to 1984 and boasts over forty releases, from bands that she has played in, to artists for whom she has sang backup or played with as a side-person.

Some notable co-writes include Bernie Taupin & Martin Page, Lisa DalBello, Nancy Wilson (Heart), the late West Arkeen (Guns & Roses), and Victor DeLorenzo of the Violent Femmes, who produced her most recent album, One Night at Giant Rock.

Other artists with whom Astrid worked with both live and in the studio include Neil Young, Ann & Nancy Wilson, Graham Bonnet, Johnny Cash, Nicolette Larson, Gerry Goffin, Graveyard Train, Dramarama, and Lee Harvey Osmond (Tom Wilson).

Astrid’s solo acoustic shows have been compared to “Alice In Chains Unplugged” and have rallied fans all over the world, from the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in Hollywood to Paradiso in Amsterdam. She describes her work as Acid Folk, with influences that include David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, and Black Sabbath.

Accompanied by her husband, Junkhouse and Lee Harvey Osmond drummer Ray Farrugia, the performance is musical, energetic, and powerfully emotive with a musical surprise around every corner. Astrid plays the 12-string guitar like a weapon and she’s not afraid to change her strings on the day of a show.
